We live in a hyper-connected world: anyone can go online and share their view with potentially millions of people. The result is an era of radically democratised (dis)information. And it's a threat to democracy itself. But fake news has a surprisingly long history. This book traces its evolution through rumour, conspiracy and misinformation, from Ancient Greece to Donald Trump and then beyond, asking the question: how do we make sense of a post-truth world?
